Life of Augustine

In this first major section of Augnet, the first three parts move through events in his life in a chronological order - his early years in Africa, his formative years in Italy, and the rest of his life back in Africa. The fourth part examines some general matters that span much of his life. The fifth part presents a view of the social, political and religious environment in which Augustine lived.

The works of Augustine

This second major section of Augnet describes the work that Augustine performed by writing, preaching and pastoral activity. It adds the finer detail that was not included in the previous biographical section. The work of Augustine is not only the five million words in his books, letters and sermons that still exist, but also his achievement through his influence in many areas of human thought and Western tradition.

The Order of St Augustine

This third major section of Augnet features successively the nature of the Order, especially its Augustinian spirituality, charism and community life. There are also pages upon its spiritual tradition and its saints, and on the fraternal bonds that bind its members together in overr fortty nations of the world. Some of its lay associations are also included.

The History of the Order

This fourth major section of Augnet features the history of the Order of Saint Augustine during more than 750 years. Successively it looks at the international, regional and local levels of the Order. A section focuses on places on all five continents where the Order has served. Its final section then offers the biography of numerous members over the centuries who have made their mark on history and upon the Order.
